Tony Frank
French photographer born in 1945. His career begins in the 1960’s.
Tony started his career as one of the most sought after photographers of the French magazine “Salut les Copains”, (emblem of a whole generation created in 1962 by Daniel Filipacchi), then went on to work for Hit Magazine (another iconic publication), until 1975.
The agency Sygma-Corbis employed him on a regular basis as a freelance photographer to cover stories for the largest magazine publications in France including Paris Match, Gala, and VSD… In addition, Tony kept doing photo shoots at the request of his favourite artists and record companies for which he produced multiple series of posters, single and album covers.
More than the photographer of the stars, he became their confident. Over the years he worked as the official photographer of Johnny Hallyday, Serge Gainsbourg, Véronique Sanson to name just a few.
Today Tony Frank is considered an icon in the photography world for having capture authentic and never to be forgotten moments of French and international pop rock music and movie stars of the last four decades.
His work includes photos of: Woody Allen, Louis Armstrong, Charles Aznavour, Nathalie Baye, Chuck Berry, Jean Paul Belmondo, Jane Birkin, James Brown, Ray Charles, Julien Clerc, Alain Delon, Catherine Deneuve, Matt Dillon, Donovan, Bob Dylan, Marianne Faithfull, Claude François, Jean Luc Godard, Nina Hagen, Mick Jagger, Elton John, Tom Jones, Madonna, Mireille Mathieu, Michel Polnareff, Queen, Otis Redding, Sony & Cher, Tina Turner, Sylvie Vartan, The Who, Frank Zappa…
He lives in Paris.
